About this Project
We worked directly for the developer on this project preparing the site for two high rise towers that will provide over 350 apartments on Church Street in downtown Nashville. Scope of work included erosion
control, site demolition, site grading, and installation of site utilities. We stripped topsoil and unsuitable soils from the building pad and blasted down 45’ to bottom of footings.
Highlights:
- Site preparation for two towers (38-story and 24-story) over two city blocks
- 53,000 cy of common excavation
- Export of 45,000 cy of material
- Blasted 40,000 cy of rock to 45’ below grade
- Multiple daily blasts for a total of 45 different blasts
- Constructed a temporary ramp 45’ to bottom of excavation
- Soil nail retention around entire site
- Excavation for electrical duct bank
- Installation of storm, sewer, and watermain utilities
- Installation of Water Quality Unit after foundation walls were backfilled
Site Conditions:
- Highly congested downtown area requiring multiple lane closures
- Adjacent to an occupied, active residential building
- Adherence to strict blasting schedules
- Site surrounded by some of the oldest roads in Nashville with many unforeseen conditions
