About this Project
Contracted to provide excavation services, backfill, and installation of site utilities for the new Nashville Federal Courthouse that was in the heart of downtown Nashville. We demolished four buildings as part of the site preparation. Debris from a prior building demolition many years ago was found buried underground that required removal. Unforeseen asbestos and contaminated soils were removed.

Highlights:
• Site preparation covering over 4 acres for the new federal courthouse
• 20,000 cy of material crushed on site, reused as fill, and compacted back into site
• 38,000 cy of mass excavation
• Contaminated soil remediation
• Demolition of a 5-story, 80,000 sf building
• Demolition of an 8-story, 128,000 sf parking garage
• Excavation for NES electrical vault
• Installation of sewer, storm, and watermain utilities
• Diverted 89% of material from landfill

- Highly congested down area requiring multiple lane closures
- Brought in asphalt millings at night that were placed on the street while we operated and removed
each morning - Debris found buried underground from demolition of building several years ago that had contaminated
soils which had to be remediate
